The event will take place on Saturday 4th August, entry is now open on the triathlon ireland website.
Rosses Point has a long tradition of triathlon going back over 35 years with the All Ireland Metalman Triathlon in its hayday attracting competitors from all over Ireland and abroad as well as the televisions cameras of RTE.
The event in its modern incarnation kicked off again in 2009 shortly after the Sligo Triathlon Club was formed seeing the
running of an Olympic Distance event.
This invovles a 1500m Swim, 40km Cycle and 10km Run.
The 2009 event saw a strong local contingent made up of seasoned atheltes taking part, many doing their first triathlon.
2010 and 2011 saw Sprint Triathlons being run by Sligo Tri Club but this year we will be hosting both an Olympic and Sprint event over the same weekend.
The large car park will be used as a transition area and offers wonderful views for spectators in particular of the swim leg as well as transition itself.
