Club History

This current incarnation of triathlon clubs in Sligo dates back to 2008, but it follows in the footsteps of the 'metalman' club and has many of the same members. It all started with a duathlon on 1977 (yes, it was that long ago -we have the over 60's racers to prove it). During the 1980's the sport experienced a boom culminating in the 'All Ireland Metalman' Triathlons. After a period in the doldrums during the late 90's and early 00's the sport has taken off again. We have been promised articles on what the scene was like back then (including one racer who raced and trained with Lance Armstrong -guess who, no prizes!); so these will be posted here.
