Club Chosen Charities 2014
We received this lovely letter of reply from Stephanie Scanlon at the Sligo Cancer Support Centre. As a club we should feel very proud that we are able to support such deserving causes.
Heres a bit more information, as shared on our Facebook Page.
On behalf of the club our Secretary Tom Ford recently presented Maureen Duncan, manager of Sligo Cancer Support Centre, with a cheque for €1000. The Sligo Cancer Support Centre was one of Sligo Triathlon Clubs chosen charities for 2014.
The centre provides services free of charge to patients who require post cancer care treatments. The services include counselling, reflexology, child psychologists to name but a few.
Last year they had over 5000 visits from users of the facility and over 500 patients were helped.
All of the professional services are provided by volunteers free of charge.
The centre rely on the support of the public in providing these services and Maureen Durcan who manages the centre was very grateful and thankful to receive the donation from the Triathlon Club members.
We would like to thank all those involved in club in 2014 for making it possible to present this gift. You can get more information on the centre here http://www.sligocancersupportcentre.ie
