Olympic Distance

Swim 1500 m (1 lap)

The swim will take place starting from the carpark of Hazelwood forest walk. It is a very sheltered bay and is protected from the wind from all sides.  The swim will comprise of one clockwise lap of a 1500 m course. The swim will be marked by 3 large buoys and a number of smaller buoys at regular intervals.

Bike (39.4k ) ( 1 loop)

Its best described as a rolling course. It has everything from short sharp hills, fast descending, sweeping bends and a steady climb. It’s a TT bike course but will challenge every competitor. The bike course will be held on regional roads and Local roads and the surface is generally in very good condition. The bike will start in the carpark of Hazelwood forest, up Hazelwood Avenue and road, turning right onto the R286. You will continue the R286 until just before the village of Dromahair (16.7k). You then do a U turn or 180 degrees turn and travel up the mountain line. This is a gradual/ steady hill of 6km on a local road. At the top of the climb you turn left onto the R278. What goes up must come down and you are now at the highest point on the course. You are basically slightly descending back to Sligo with a few short sharp hills for 14km. You then turn left back onto the R286 and finally turning back onto Hazelwood Road & Avenue for the last 2km downhill.

Run Course- 10k - 3 laps

The run course will be held on a flat and fast compacted trail. The trails are wide and in very good condition with a mix of stone chips and hard compacted mud. The Olympic distance course will cover 3 looped laps of the trail.

Timing will be once again provided by Coretiming a local and very highly recommended timing company. Please use the core timing website to access the results after the race and they should be published on that website within a couple of hours of the race finish. The should also be texted to you once they are up on the website. Please note results are not official until they are published on the TI website.

Wet suits will be compulsory for the swim; unfortunately, as good we are at STC, we will not be able to warm up the Halfmoon Bay to the bathwater temps! There will be no exceptions made.

Medical Issues
No need to be foolhardy. In the entry, you were asked if you had any medical issues, most of the time this is skipped over by athletes. This is an endurance event and puts a lot of stress on your body; It is very important that we know of any medical issues you may have, no matter how big or small. If you skipped this, and you have an existing medical issue please get in touch with us. It's in your best interest.

After race Refreshments

Food will be provided and there will be a choice of options available. These will be provided at the transition area immediately after your race has finished.

After party

There will be a social gathering once the dust has settled and it’s another opportunity to share war stories. The after party has been confirmed for the Bourbon Bar. It’s a very popular venue and finger food will be provided

Prize giving

Prizes will be awarded in accordance with TI policy for pries for National Series Events. We will advertise the prizes on a whiteboard at registration. Prize Giving will be at approx. 4.30pm close to finish line/transition

Happy Racing and Best of Luck,
