We will be continuing the tradition of am informative article leading into each swim of the swim series which kicks off next week.
To start, here's an excellent article by Club Member Scot Reid (pictured). Scot has swum at a high competitive level in his native south africa and continues to be the man to beat in sligo and beyond. Scot has won the Warrior of the Sea 6km swim as well as the Swim Series itself.
Most of the swimmers from the reserve list have completed their additional entry details per Donncha's recent email and will be taking part in the series.
We have a few that haven't completed their entry. We will close this off 5pm on Friday 18th May so please use the provided link in the email. If you have any issues or didn't receive the email please contact Donnacha O'Connor donncha@ireland.com
The launch took place last night in the radisson hotel. There was a good turnout who were entertained with speakers talking about the swim itself, the links to the hospice and the swim league of which it's part of. The sligo tri club triathlon weekend was also discussed. Ocean FM's Francie Boylan kept everything flowing very nicely in his role as Master of Ceremonies.
Our friends in Sligo Yacht Club have asked us to mention this

I took part in the Quiet Man Triathlon in Cong in County Mayo at the weekend which is run by the Tri Lakes Triathlon Club.It's early in the year and not too far so was a good one to do. It was my first time to do a lake based triathlon having only once swam in a lake at the lough gill swim last year so that was something a bit different too.
I was the only club member down from sligo but David Armstrong was down with me and brought his dog charlie as our cheerleader.
Here is the race report for the Tri An Mhi (Half Iron Distance Race) held on the 12/05/2012 (Thanks to Alan French):
Racing season is open, and it opened with a bang with some seriously extreme challenges taking place over the weekend;
